Our yarns

natural and recycled

MY COMMITMENT

From summer 2024 Woolly Mallow is making a major transition in its sourcing. From this summer only recycled natural materials will be used to make our knitwear.

The headbands and hats from previous collections were made from natural materials (mohair and merino) of very good quality, sourced from the French spinning mill Fonty we really appreciate. You will find all the information on the Aubusson, Ombelle and Bling Bling qualities on the Fonty website.

Recycled cotton

Composition: 100% recycled cotton

Quality: Eco Donny

Supplier : Tessiland

Origin: Italy

EcoDonny is an ecological cotton obtained by certified production processes, which transform fabric scraps into 100% cotton and pre-dyed into recycled yarns.

The scraps obtained in the production of clothing, through a special production process, are recovered and transformed into cotton yarns that maintain the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Specific studies for this process attest to a saving of 56.3% in CO2, 56.6% in
consumption of energy resources and 77.9% in
the use of water in the entire production process.

With the abolition of dyeing processes, the use of chemicals is reduced by 90%.

What makes the material particularly interesting, in addition to the production cycle, are its performance characteristics: thanks to its molecular structure, this recycled cotton remains cool in summer and warm in winter.

Maintenance: It is possible to machine wash, however it is always recommended to do the first washes by hand to allow the fiber to settle and not deform. Having a high specific weight, it is necessary to dry the creation flat and not to hang it.

INTERVIEW

What if we washed less?

We also know today how to wash our small knits, whether they are cotton, cashmere or wool, even if we uses gentle detergent, has an impact on the environment. This will require, at a minimum, water treatment. We forget it but it must be said: washing is pollute.

Here is our advice: before washing your knitwear: check that it is very dirty. Even if you notice the presence of small stains, shake your stitch hard, see if the small spots are dry, try to remove them by rubbing lightly with the tip of your finger or an inside part of your stitch. If an odor bothers you, hang your mesh in a ventilated place for several hours.

If you really notice that your wool remains dirty: check what is indicated on the label.

Recycled cotton:

We recommend carrying out the first washes by hand so that the fiber settles and does not deform. After the first 2-3 washes you can wash your recycled cotton knit in the machine at 30° with medium spin. To dry, lay your mesh flat on a bath towel for example; avoid hanging it up at all costs, as this could deform it.
